Machine Shop
SPring-8 has two machine shops. One is the 1st Machine Shop (room D18, the storage ring building), the other is the 2nd Machine Shop (at the Accelerator and Beamline R&D Facility). To get permission to use these machine shops, users have to first attend the Machine Shop Safety Classes to learn how to use the equipments and devices.
1st Machine Shop
Requirement: 1st Machine Shop Safety Class
Place: room D18 of the storage ring building
Equipments: bench drilling machine, band sawing machine, shearing machine, lathe machine, bench milling machine, and hack sawing machine
Hours open: 9:30 am - 5:00 pm on weekdays
2nd Machine Shop
Requirement: 2nd Machine Shop Safety Class
Place: the Accelerator and Beamline R and D Facility
Equipments: universal milling machine, lathe machine, boring machine, upright drilling machine, bench drilling machine, band sawing machine, circular sawing machine, shearing machine, holding machine
Hours open: 9:30 am - 5:00 pm on weekdays

1. Proper attire for work is required. Users are not allowed to wear short sleeves, short pants, skirts, slippers, etc.
2. You can choose to attend only the 1st Machine Shop Safety Class. In this case, you can use only the 1st Machine Shop. |
