SPring-8, the large synchrotron radiation facility

Based on the recommendations made by the Government Revitalization Unit, the new administration had been considering the SPring-8 budget.

As a result of the considerations, the Cabinet decided on December 25 to appropriate 8.49 billion JPY, 170 million JPY down from the previous year, for the facility operation and maintenance, and the user selection and support services.

To accommodate our users' needs to the maximum extent possible, we will continue our efforts for more efficient operation of the facility and restructuring of the user fee/beamtime fee structure with a view to ensure the same level of operation hours as currently exist.
