Type of Tour

RIKEN Harima Institute provides two types of tour for visitor(s), a visit to Public Relations Center and a guided site tour, with no admission fee.

Visit to Public Relations Center (no appointment necessary)
The visit to the SPring-8 Public Relations Center with the Exhibition Hall is available. Any day except the end of the year and the New Year days, visitors can enter the Public Relations Center (Exhibition Hall) from 10:00 to 16:00 freely, without any booking or admission fee. However, when visitors enter the SPring-8 campus, the admission procedure is required at the Gatekeeper's at the Main Gate.

Guided Site Tour (by appointment only; please fill a request form in the below.)
The guided site tour at SPring-8 gives a general overview of SPring-8's highlights as follows:
1) Watching a video for the introduction to SPring-8^(*).
2) Visiting the SPring-8 Public Relations Center with the Exhibition Hall.
3) Observing the Experimental Hall from the observation platform on the second floor in the Storage Ring.
4) Visiting the X-ray Free Electron Laser, SACLA.
It takes between an hour and 2 hours.

NOTE: Only a group tour consisting of generally 10 up to 30 members can be accepted. For a personal tour or a group tour of a few members, please consult the Research Promotion Division of RIKEN Harima Institute.

For the guided site tour at SPring-8, please fill in the necessary items on the following online request form, and then press the SUBMIT button below.

If you fail to send the form, please e-mail the necessary items to harima-koho@riken.jp.

Note 1: Your request can be accepted from a maximum of 3 months in advance of your visit.
Note 2: We cannot offer any guided tour on weekends, holidays, national holidays, the end of the year and the New Year days (December 29th through January 3rd). However, any day except the end of the year and the New Year days, you can enter Public Relations Center (Exhibition Hall) freely without any booking or admission fee, which is open from 9:30 through 17:00. When you enter the SPring-8 campus, the admission procedure is required at the Gatekeeper's at the Main Gate.
Note 3: Please send this form by a minimum of 10 days in advance of the day you wish to visit.
Note 4: A site tour with alcohol cannot be accepted.
Note 5: No smoking and drinking outside of the designated area.
Note 6: The guided site tour is generally intended for college students or older people. For a tour of high school students or younger people, please contact OPTOPIA, the Hyogo prefectural public information center for Harima Science Garden City.
