Phonon observation strongly related to superconductivity (Press Release)

  • BL35XU (High Resolution lnelastic Scattering)
Dr. M. Hoesch (JAEA) and others observed strong softening of optical-phonon modes in superconducting boron-doped diamond using inelastic x-ray scattering with use of a chemical vapor deposition grown highly oriented sample at SPring-8. The magnitude of the observed softening supports theoretical models suggesting a phonon-mediated pairing mechanism.

This article is presented in Japanese.
