The XFEL Research Group aims to promote XFEL science at SACLA through effective interactions among the SpRUC members. The Group also serves as a bridge between the user community and the SACLA facility to discuss the direction of research and development at SACLA. These activities will enhance SACLA’s research activity and usability, and help attract new users. This role is particularly important during the 8th term to support and encourage SPring-8 users, especially industrial users, to use SACLA during SPring-8’s blackout period for its upgrade.
The XFEL Research Group is constituted of SpRUC members who have used or are interested in using SACLA for their research. Most members are former members of the SACLA User Community (SACLA UC), which was established in 2013. The SACLA UC made a great contribution to the establishment of XFEL science at SACLA in the early phase of the facility. Since SACLA entered a new operation phase, it became a major task of SACLA UC to acquire new users and explore advanced research fields using XFELs. The XFEL Research Group was established in 2019 to take over the activities of SACLA UC to promote interactions with the members of SPRUC. The Group will continue its activities during the 8th Term.
