Overview of Research Group, Goals and Purposes:

The mission of the atomic resolution holography society is to develop original atomic imaging techniques, X-ray fluorescence holography (XFH) and photoelectron holography (PEH), through the encouragement of extensive discussions and collaborations among users at SPring-8. The advantage of former (XFH) technique is that it is free from ultra-high vacuum condition and thus has a direct access to bulk information. The latter (PEH) technique is unique for its large surface sensitivity and high detection efficiency for the light elements. These new techniques open a door for the three-dimensional atomic arrangement imaging around the target atomic site. Since perfect translational symmetry structure is not required, they are quite effective for the selective measurement of the local structures of mixed crystals, impurities in crystals, and adsorbates on the crystal surfaces. This society aims these novel techniques to be more user-friendly, widely applicable also to the organic materials, and highly reliable as achieved in XAFS and X-ray diffraction communities.
