Overview of Research Group, Goals and Purposes:

In the field of chemical crystallography, cutting-edge researches expect synchrotron radiation to provide the highest quality data for direct observation of precise three-dimensional molecular geometries in static or dynamic behaviors with high spatial and time resolution. The main activities of the Chemical Crystallography Research Group are promotion of such advanced studies, especially as following subjects:

1. Direct observation of molecular geometries under excited, transient, and metastable states;
2. Accurate structure analysis of by micron-size single crystal diffraction techniques;
3. Precise structure analysis, including charge density studies;
4. In-situ observation of chemical reactions in crystalline phases;
5. Molecular structure dynamics and high accurate analysis for materials structure science;
6. Structure analysis of molecular crystals by power diffraction techniques.

The most important subject of our activities is providing preferable hardware and software environments so that chemists can perform experiments using synchrotron facilities more easily and efficiently. In addition, collaboration of other diffraction techniques by such as power and neutron source combined with the single crystal X-ray analysis method in order to promote extensive chemical crystallographic research activities. Our goal is the achievement of user-friendly environments for X-ray diffraction studies with high-throughput equipments and fully technical scientific on-site supports that means, gSPring-8 welcomes any kind of experiments and will provide the highest quality datah.
