Title: The physics of metal-Hydrogen system: Present and Future

Abstract: As a consequence of the M-H system being composed of constituents of widely different masses (M-atoms, H-atoms and electrons), its various properties show up in different energy and time scales. Here I start by surveying some dynamical properties  of the system classified according to their time scales, and thereby try to reveal underlying basic processes; the tunneling of H-atoms, the vibration of M- and H-atoms, the transition of core electrons, and the collision/scattering of irradiated particles by H-atoms. Note that a new state of matter is realized by shock compression of elemental hydrogen, where the dissociation/recombination of H2 molecules is repeated in very short times.
Then I proceed to describe some characteristic features of M-H and H-H interactions, placing emphasis on widely different ranges of the interactions.
It is my hope that a close examination of these unique features of the M-H system will lead to future development of its physics.
