BL05XU OUTLINE

Inquiry number

INS-0000000311

ABSTRACT

BL05XU is a beamline for small- and wide- angle X-ray scattering measurement using in-vacuum undulator as light source. The main target is analysis of static structure and dynamics of samples having a hierarchical structure such as polymer and biomaterials. At the optics hutch, users can use an instrument for measuring pair distribution functions of materials under high temperature and/or high pressure, which was developed under the SACLA/SPring-8 basic development program ("Development of pair distribution function measurement of liquids and amorphous materials under high pressure and high temperature conditions", PI: Prof. Yoshio KONO of Ehime University).

AREA OF RESEARCH

  • R&D of SR instruments
  • Structural analysis by small- and wide- angle X-ray scattering

KEYWORDS

  • Scientific field
Small- and wide- angle X-ray scattering, Grazing-incidence X-ray scattering, Time-resolved measurement, Pair distribution function measurement

SOURCE AND OPTICS

Optics:

Energy Range : 7 - 15 keV (Experimental station), 100 keV (Optics hutch)
     Photon Flux : ‹1×1013 photons/s (12.4 keV, experimental station), ~1×1013 photons/s (100 keV, optics hutch)

Experimental Stations

The sample-to-detector distance is changed by moving the detector in the range of ~10 cm to 4 m. In the sample space, a large switching stage with two motor XZ stages is installed. The load capacity of each XZ stage is 100 kg, and users can set the two different devices simultaneously and switch them.
