BL28XU OUTLINE

問い合わせ番号

ABSTRACT

BL28XU was built as the advanced analysis beamline for batteries by Kyoto university, which was the center of “Research & Development Initiative for Scientific Innovation of New Generation Batteries” (RISING, FY2009 – FY2015) project by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Spatially and time resolved in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) have been employed at BL28XU for battery reaction analysis by RISING and its successive projects, RISING2 (FY2016 – FY2020) and RISING3 (FY2021 – FY2025).

AREA OF RESEARCH

  • Rechargeable batteries

KEYWORD

  • In situ, time resolved, microbeam
  • XRD, XAFS, HAXPES

SOURCE AND OPTICS

  • Light Source:
    • Tapered vacuum undulator
  • Optics:
    • 1st Mirror (M1), 2nd Mirror (M2), compact monochromator, 3rd Mirror (M3), 4th mirror (M4)
    • M1 and compact monochromators are cooled by liquid nitrogen.
    • M2, M3, M4 are cooled by water.
    • All mirrors are coated with Pt and Rh.
    • The beam is focused horizontally by M1 and M2, vertically by M3 and M4 which reject higher harmonics.
    • Two compact monochromators (Si(111) and Si(220)) are installed, which are driven by a servo motor coupled with a rotary feedthrough using magnetic fluid. The available energy range is 4 – 46 keV.
    • Pinkbeam (quasi-monochromatic beam without the monochromator) is also available. The energy band of the beam can be widen by tapering the undulator gap.
