BL41XU is one of the few MX beamlines which allow for data collection using high energy X-ray in the range of 20 - 35 keV in the world. The high energy mode is used for characteristic structural analysis such as ultra-high resolution data collection aiming at visualization of hydrogen and/or determination of heavy atom position whose absorption edge is located in this energy range and use of it for phasing.
The diffractometer designated for the high energy mode is installed in Experimental Hutch1. The N2/He cryo-cooler can cool sample down to 100 K when N2 gas is used. It can cool sample down to 20 K when He is used.
