ABSTRACT
BL27SU is a soft X-ray undulator beamline that is dedicated to soft X-ray spectroscopy and microscopy under normal ambient pressure (helium) or high-vacuum condition. The beamline consists of two branches. The B-branch provides higher energy soft X-ray (2.1-3.3keV) by use of a Si(111) double crystal monochromator. On the other hand, equipped with a varied-line-spacing plane grating monochromator, the C-branch provides lower soft X-ray radiation in the range from 0.17 to 2.2 keV. The major applications of the beamline are soft X-ray photoabsorption spectroscopy, soft X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and scanning X-ray microscopy using soft X-ray micro beam. The experimental stations are connected to the beamline through the differential pumping apparatus or Si3N4 vacuum window. This setting makes us possible to control sample environments from 1 atom (helium) to 10-6 Pa.

Light source
Light source is a Figure-8 undulator, which can produce linearly polarized radiation with low on-axis heat load. Figure-8 undulator provides both horizontally and vertically polarized soft X-ray beams by choice of an appropriate undulator gap, the linear electric vector lying horizontally (0°) from the integer-order-harmonic light and that vertically (90°) from the half-integer-order light.
Pre-mirrors
The pre-mirrors that installed in an optics hutch deflect the photon beam to one of two branches. M0' at 2.2°diverts the photon beam into B-branch. M0 and M1 deflect and focus the photon beam to the C-branch.
