走査蛍光X線顕微法は元素分布を調べることのできる有効な手法です。超精密X線全反射ミラーで構成されたKirkpatrick-Baez型X線集光系を用いることにより、数十ナノメートルの空間分解能を持つ元素マップが可能となります。
図に示すのは、CDDP感受性および耐性癌細胞について測定した元素マップです。15 keV のX線を、試料位置で1.5 m (H) 0.75 m (W)に集光しました。 この結果から、癌の新規治療法が提案されました。
