Title : Introduction to SOLEIL with a focus to the latest activities in the engineering department in relation with instrumentations used in the beamlines and the storage ring

Abstract :
SOLEIL is the French national synchrotron facility, located on the Saclay Plateau near Paris. It is a multi-disciplinary instrument and research laboratory whose mission is to conduct research using synchrotron radiation, to develop cutting edge instrumentation on the beamlines, and to make these developments available to the scientific community. The Mechanical Engineering office at SOLEIL synchrotron is in charge of the design, the fabrication follow-up and the assembly of the beamline instrumentations as well as the storage ring components. This presentation will cover a quick overview of SOLEIL institute from the early beginning and presents some ongoing projects inside the Mechanical Engineering group.
