Insertion Device
SPring-8 has 38 straight sections where insertion devices (IDs) are installed. As of Oct. 2005, 27 of them are already occupied. Most of the installed IDs are of in-vacuum type, which provides high-brilliant SR in a hard x-ray region. In addition, IDs for polarization control and a 25-m long undulator have been installed.
